sca is nothing else then a zip-file.

Included in these are all pieces that you need. You deploy the sca file with the Deployment Manager of the J2EE engine.

Hi,

As Mario mentioned, you can also unzip them with winzip or you use other tools. I had done it with WINRAR (you have to download the files, which begins with VC, in those archives there are *.gml files in it).

Hi Mario,

I downloaded the Business Package from SWDC, however those file are .SCA and NOT .GML

I attempted to load the .SCA file into my VC Model, however got an error message..Herewith attached are my steps

Choose Import from File...from the Model Menu

Selected the 'Merge Imported Package '

searched for the .sca file (on my Desktop)

however I got the following error message :-

"Please upload a file that ends with .gml"

Please advice how can I upload this .SCA file into my VC Model or can I convert this .SCA to .GML ?

John,

As Mario and Marcel already mentioned, sca files are zip files.

Rename the .sca to .zip, unzip it and load the .gml unziped file into VC.

Hello Marcelo,

I attempted but still cannot find the .gml file when I unzipped.

I downloaded the VC ACOMP FINHCM 1.1 from Support Packages and Patches" SAP xApps" SAP XAPP ANALYTICS" SAP XAPP ANALYTICS 1.1

Renamed this from .sca to .ZIP .... Unzipped the file.

However there was no .gml file found.

Then I attempted another way to rename the .sca to .gml directly and then I tried to import it, however got the following error message :-

The error message was "Server Error : Failed to import model - attribute is missing in imported file"

Please advice

John,

I don't have access to this download area, so my help is limited.

What I going to say is obvious, but... see if you don't have a link where you downloaded the .sca file with more information on how to deploy it, or maybe a SAP Note...

Had you tried to deploy via JSPM or SDM?

Sorry I can't help you further..

Cheers,

Marcelo

Hi John,

We want to have this area for share the models and don't have to reinvent the wheel but unfortunately we are just a few Visual Composer geeks.. and don't have so much time to share it.....

This is the Wiki link

Hi Luis,

I tried to get a VC example model in the Wiki page but the link is pointing to https://portal.wdf.sap.corp/go/sapxappanalytics.

This is an internal SAP site, isn't?

Hi Marcelo,

I guess that must be an Internal one...

If you login to service.sap.com then follow through the path : Support Packages and Patches" SAP xApps" SAP XAPP ANALYTICS" SAP XAPP ANALYTICS 1.1

These are where SAP claims to have stored thier VC / BP Models.

However, NONE of these VC models have .gml file in it(Even after unzipping it)

I guess you might be correct that we need to deploy this using Portal SDM.(Kindof sad isn`t, after all its not all plug-n-play as claimed ?)

If anyone could shed any further magic on automatically converting these from .sca to .gml, please give it a shout !

Cheers,

Hi John,

I'm pretty sure it's an internal link... Anyway, I don't have access to the xapps download area at /swdc but it seems that this .sda is a patch for the VC itself and not an updated model...

To make sure about this, go to the download area and click on the link "Info" at the right of the package link. A new popup will open and you'll see a link to a SAP Note. Maybe you can find more information in this Note...

Cheers,

Marcelo

Thanks Marcelo,

SAP NOTE : 544979 resolves it !

Not all sca files that you get from the download area have the gml = the model. They only contain the compiled application.

In order to use the sca file, you need to deploy it with a piece that is called "Software Deployment Manager" (SDM). That's the central tool to install new components on the J2EE engine (and that's where the portal is running).

1) Rename the SCA to ZIP

2) Unzip the ZIP file

3) Take a look in the Deployedarchives folder that is extracted

4) Rename the SDA file that you find in this subfolder again to ZIP

5) Unzip this new zip file and you will find the GML that you can import

Hello!

Even though it probably does not matter anymore, I just found out that the .GML file is found inside the "Deployable model" area of the .SDA file. That means

1) Extract .SDA (rename it zip or anything else an unzipper can do, eg. .RAR)

2) Extract .SCA ((rename it zip or anything else an unzipper can do, eg. .RAR) for the Deployable model.

3) Locate the .GML file

4) Import the model (finally)

Hi John,

How you are deploying the .SCA files. Could you tell me the path.
