Design Studio on .CSV file - Automatic update

Hi Experts,

I am trying to work on Design Studio with csv as my data source. I was able to connect to the file and extract data into the dashboard. However my question is how do we update the Flat file with new data in the future.

For test purpose i tried adding a couple of new rows to the source file in the repository folder but i ran into errors when tried to edit the initial view. I think I am missing something here.

Could you please help me out on this. Is it possible to automate the process such that when in future if we add new data it automatically gets picked into the dashboard?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Raja

Hi Raja,

The current standard CSV data source is intended for demo and prototyping purposes only. There is no automatic update mechanism. Ideally you should make sure you have all the data you need from the beginning and then don't edit the file after that as it may become inconsistent with the metadata, which is probably what you are experiencing.

The CSV file is normally generated by exporting a live data source from the Initial View editor. Instead of manually editing your CSV file to update it, you could simply export a new CSV file each time you need a data update and then completely replace the old file with the new one.

Mustafa.
