Production order:A production order defines which material is to be processed, at which location, at what time and how much work is required. It also defines which resources are to be used and how the order costs are to be settled.

As soon as a planned order or a company-internal requirement is generated from previous planning levels (material requirements planning) shop floor control takes over the information available and adds the order-relevant data to it to guarantee complete order processing.

Production orders are used to control production within a company and also to control cost accounting.

Process order

Process orders are the main element used for the detailed planning and execution of process manufacturing.

A process order describes the production of batches (materials) in a production run or the rendering of services. It is generated from the master recipe and contains all the information specified during process planning.

You use a process order to plan the quantities, dates, and resources of the manufacturing process, to control process order execution, and to define rules for the account assignment and settlement of the costs incurred.

In PP-PI, process orders perform the same function as production orders in PP.

Hi Charlie,

good explanation of processs orders. but i want to know how to create a process order and how to link the process order and replenishment, as on of my prototyping scenario is about replenishment based on process order and not on the Min Max level set in the material master.

Thanks,

Maxx
