Reduce the number of sapdatas - Oracle

Hi Experts,

We currently have a BW System with Oracle and it are stored in many sapdatas (sapdata1, sapdata2, sapdataN). we need to obtain a the best administration with this system and is necesary to reduce the number of sapdatas. how can do it? or what is the best manner for do this?.

Hi Carlos,

Each orgnaization has different strategy to maintain sapdata<n> as few wants to keep it minimum (1-4) for ease of management and few wants to multiple sapdata to avoid risk of data loss/corruption in case of system failure.

If you want to restrict sapdata then you can move data files between sapdata<n> through BRTOOLS or SQLPLUS, but before that make sure that your target sapdata has sufficient space available to accommodate new (migrated) datafiles.
