Hi Experts, We have implemented the process of Batch determination while doing the Goods issue against the production order. The system will select the batch based on the Shelf Life of the Batch.
Suppose if the two batch's are having the same expiry date,in that case which batch the system will select. Is that based on the last GR date in the batch or Batch Creation date .
Kindly give your inputs.
Thanks Best Regards Saravanan Sivakumaran
i believe you should also be looking at the quantity proposal value for this question. Unless you've added an additional sort value like "last Goods receipt" to your sort strategy, (i.e. sort by SLED, then Last goods receipt), I think the system will just list the batches in however it read them in out of the batch tables.
But the actual batch selected can also be influenced by the qty proposal rule. So for instance you can pick a batch that simply assigns the quantity from the first listed batch to the last listed batch until the qty ordered is satisfied. The other provided qty proposal attempts to assign the full quantity to one batch. So it won't necessarily use FIFO. Also, the number of batch splits allowed can affect this assignment.

If two batches for the same material are having the same expiry date then it should not matter which one is taken first.
And if it matters then add your criteria to the sorting
As you can't have the same batch multiple times in the same storage location it is most probably the storage location that ranks in the alphabet first from where the batch is taken.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your reply.
I have already done FEFO(First Expiry First Out) process. Its working fine.
But If two batches for the same material is having the same expiry date.
At that time which one system will take pick while doing the Goods Issue against the production order.
Please give valuable inputs. Thanks

HI Saravanan,
It depends on your sort rule maintained in CU70/CU71/CU72. If you would like to use FIFO(First in First out), you may refer to note 1979691 - How to set up FIFO in batch determination.
Best regards,
Sam
