HelLo Guarav,

As Juergen has explained, MRP doesnt run at batch level, MRP runs at Plant level and MRP area level. In S/4 Hana perhaps, MRP at SLOC is removed. In APO, there is characteristics dependent planning, CDP, you can use the relevant characteristics for planning. However, material should be configurable in this case which is not applicable in your case. You can refer below link for your understanding.

Hi

Thanks for the reply , yes currently my material is not configurable but i have tried with the same in sand box system i got the PR but configuration tab was missing in the same...

Do you have any idea how manufacturing or mainly automotive industry do the planning for material if they same code in SAP but with different color

MRP does not run at batch level, as it cannot be assumed that you can recreate the same batch. A batch is a unique result of a production or receipt. Its natural meaning is different from how it is used by you. A batch is not a further segregation of a material master, it is an object to distinguish individual receipts of the same material as it might have different characteristic values.

I don't know how the automotive guys do it, but I can tell you how it is done for glass.

we produce glass in sheets - the standard sheet has a certain color, length, width and thickness. This is a finished product and is stored in the warehouse.

If you want a different size then such a sheet is cut in pieces, specific to the customers desire, based on the entries in configuration, in SAP terms is this a KMAT material type and the stock is sales order stock.

A different color would be another material number as a color is a base attribute and unchangeable with configuration.

The MRP run is made for the finished product with the standard size, the direct sale of the standard size is known as well as the consumption (usage to get the configured material).

For cars I believe it is very similar, there are standard models which would correspond to the finished product and the rest is customer specific configured and manufactured.

In any case you plan on material level, either standard material or sales order specific configuration. You do not plant on a batch level. There might be a misinterpretation based on colloquial phrases like: "we produce batches of red and blue and black cars, if you want a black car then you get it when we produce the next batch..."
