Assign GroupID to duplicate records

Hi,

I am consolidating Business Partner data from disparate source systems. This can be achieved with MDM. However, I would like to assign a common GroupID to records found to be duplicates based on matching rules in MDM, so that matched records can later be analysed. For example, if n records are found to be duplicates based a a single field matching rule, I would like to be able to assign the same GroupID to these n records and persist the matched records to a mask or table in MDM. As far as I can see, this is not possible with MDM and would seem to be a fairly standard requirement.

If I create a GroupID field in my destination repository in MDM, the GroupID field cannot be populated with a common value after matching.

If anyone could provide any hints or input this would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Keith.

Hi Keith,

do I understand correctly that you do not want to merge the duplicates into one record with MDM? You just want to identify them but keep them as separate records?

My suggestion would be to have a multi-valued field in your table that stores the client system. Then, when you find duplicates, merge them into one record. You can append all the source client systems into that MV field. This way, you can analyse based on this source system field and see the local IDs of your Business Partnes with the Key Mapping functionality.

Hope this helps.
