The default renaming convention for template originals is
filename_template_base="$(DOCNUMBER)$(DOCTYPE)$(DOCPART)"
is it possible to change this rule to rename CAD original by description of document?
Regards,
William
Hello Nathalie,
at the moment, there is no other possibility as explained in our documentation to apply a file name during creation of the DIR.
Imagine the Manufacturer part number or description changes. What you happen to an existing file? When renaming, what's happening with all references to assemblies?
Hope this helps.

Gerhard

Hello William,
in our opinion it does not make sense to rename the file to the DIR-description. The description is a value which can be changed easily. It's not unique and stable like the keys. Additionally, what language shall be used for the file name? Chinese?
What is the reason, why you give the file a more "speaking" name?
Is it because you want to see this in the CAD system's assembly tree? Usually you can also configure the tree to display additional values like description.
Hope this helps.

Hello Gerhard,
I see you answer, about the CAD file renaming but anyway , is it possible to use other data than the document number, type and part to rename the CAD file?
I have two kind of request :
- First one is similar to the request from William, meaning the description in the CAD filename, because when working offline, just having the document number does not help to find the correct file.
- Then for standard parts, for which material is created prior to the document, we'd like the CAD file to be rename with the Manufacturer part number.
These are two kind of request, but in a more general way, I would like to know if it is possible to have a freely renaming of the CAD file, as it was previously possible to do it with the CAD-DESKTOP?
Best regards
Nathalie
