How to create Product, Software Component..after the XI Installation

Former Member

Hi Experts,

SAP XI was installed completely. After this, I would like to test some sample File – File scenario. But I am not sure, how to create the Product, Software Component etc. I am able to login and run the SXMB_IFR to get the XI tools.

Can some one please provide the initial steps / procedure, what else I need to do (like creating Product, Software Component etc) as soon as the XI installation was finished.

Thanks in advance.

hi Sree,

You can create this in SLD>Software Catalog>new Software component and create the SWC with the new version.

As you know, the SWC acts as place holder for all your design objects. In simple terms, the newer version will be an enhancement to your older released version with added functionality.

Also refer to the following links on help.sap.com for more detailed explanation and look for the compatibility changes when developing a new software component version.

Hi Sreeram, Prabhu, Shubhasha

Thank you all for your answers. Points rewarded.

Now I am able to create a Product, Component.

Now I am able to use IR to design the File to File Scenario. But I am Not able to create scenario in ID (Configuration). Because, initially 'Scenarios' tab is showing as empty. How can I create a new scenario. Is there any pre process things need to be done on Integration Directory, which allows to create new scenario.

Please provide your inputs regarding this.

Thanks

Prabhu,

The Scenario Wizard means.. is the same from "Tools--> Configuration Wizard". After selecting the Configuration Wizard..Selected the "Internal Communication" option. This shows the other screen with the title as "Inbound Message : Specify the Sender". Under this Four (4) options with drop-down list. Those are..

Service Type, Service, Interface, Namespace. Adapter Type was shown with 'XI'.

For Service type is was shown with 3 other options like..Business System, Business Process, Business Service.

Could you please suggest which options i need to select proceed further.

Thanks.

hi sree

to understand the configs to be done in ID i would rather suggest you to gothru the blog <a href="/people/venkat.donela/blog/2005/03/03/introduction-to-simple-file-xi-filescenario-and-complete-walk-through-for-starterspart2 to simple (File-XI-File)scenario and complete walk through for starters(Part2)</a>....u can also find the link to its first part.

in sort, u would require a receiver determination, interface determination, sender agreement and communication chaneel created. this can be done either thru wizards or manually (right click on the existing scenario and select new)

Prabhu,

I had gone through the Part 1 and Part 2 File - File Scenario contents. I know how to create Sender Agreement, Receiver Determination..etc.

As I mentioned earlier, my 'Scenarios' tab is completely empty. I could not able to create a new Scenario. Is that correct, whether I need to choose "Tools --> Configuration Wizard" regarding the creation of a Scenario.

Any inputs please?

Thanks.

Hi Sree,

To know about creation of Product and Software Component please go through the SLD documents. You can search for these documents on SDN and try to create these scenario for practice. Once you get to know about various part of SLD then you can move with IR/ID/RWB.

There are several blogs avaiable for File->to->File scenario.

To know more about SLD you can go through below links in addition to the earlier replies:

login to xi home page and in SLD(sys landscape directory) you need to define a product first. the steps are self explanatory and after that define a technical systema followed by a business system creation where u will use this technial system. thsi completes the cycle and in the IR u can import it as SCV from SLD
