Hi Pranav,

We recently upgraded to ECC 6.0. I think after that the content server configuration and WWI server set up are still pending. As far as i know the WWI server set up is to add the Winword configuration details. But i think for that also it requires RFC connection with Knowledge database. That connection is not there. Can you guide me how to solve this one ?

You won't be able to generate reports (word documents) from SAP unless WWI server is installed and configured properly. Please refer to WWI install guide for more details.

Hi Rajesh,

A connection to Knowledge Database is not necessary. Just the installation of the WWI server is necessary. To connect to this machine you need a RFC connection.

A step-by-step guide for the installation you can find in EH&S Customizing under Basic Data and Tools -> Report Definition -> Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) -> WWI installation -> Configuration of Generation PCs.

To edit report templates it is also necessary to have a local WWI installation on your PC. The local installation is an option during WWI installation.

Hi Andrea,

I have installed WWI in my local machine for edit report templates only. Should i also install the other things in SAP server or what i need to do. Now i am able to see all the templates in my PC. But upload file function is not working. What should i do next. I have generated the report symbols also.Can anybody guide me further...

Hi Rajesh,

there are two different activities:

1) Create a report template, release it (CG42) and create a corresponding report generation variant (CG2B). Now you should be able to display a 'Report from Template' (for example CG02, hitlist -> specification -> report -> report from template), even with your local WWI installation (for Layouting).

2) To generate raw reports and to store them in the report management you need to install an own WWI generation server (see my previous post).

The issue with the upload file function I don't understand properly.

Hi Andeas,

My problem is, I want to create the templates as well as i want to see the generated reports.

While installing WWI, i got four options called 1.Information system/labelling Workstation, 2.Install generation server, 3.Workstation for editing templates and 4.WWI file server installation. I installed only third one Workstation for editing templates. Should i install other than that as well.

I want to confirm the procedure for the release template as well. Before releasing a template you need to add the template through the DMS and next mention the same template in the CG42. After that create the variant (CG2B). Next go to CG02. I think while going through a help i gone through a sentence like first i need to upload file in CG3Z and Import template CGCZ things. I just checking whether they are working properly or not.

Also while trying to create a template from WWITEMPLATE in the Layout folder, i used <i>WWI -> Insert Symbol</i> is not giving any values. Any idea on this

Please give me some advice..

usually you should have an dedicated WWI generation server. So you should also install the option '2.Install generation server' on a separate machine. Use the instructions I mentioned before.

The process for the report templates is: eather you are creating a report template from the scratch in CG42 (you start editing with F7) or you import an existing template with transaction CG34 from the application server.

Then as described before generation variant and generation (when the server is installed).

Thanks for your continuous support !!!!!!! Now i am able to create some reports and also able to edit them. While generating the report, i am able to generate values related to Specification header. Where as i am not able to generate values of property trees like density,color etc...(value assignments). Should i activate anything for this.

One more thing is i am getting a error while genrating the report from variant like "Word cannot continue to create the document". If i select the Debug button it is redirecting to <b>WordBasic.FileTemplates Template:="C:\Program Files\EHS\WWI\wwi.dot"</b> line in VB editor. I dont find any wwi.dot file in the WWI folder as well. Can anybody guide me to come out of this issue.

I am interested in this thread as well. I am experiencing similar issues with being able to easily insert symbols from the spec header, but not from the property tree itself. Is there something I am overlooking or not doing correctly?

Now i am able to create the templates and also able to generate the reports and it is working fine. But i want to know one thing from. After installing the WWI server on my local machine it created a WWI folder in my program files folder. Inside that folder there are templates avilable in Layout folder. I was trying to upload them into the server using the transaction code <b>cg3Z - Upload file</b>. But i am not able to. What should i do for this any idea ...

I am having the same problem. I am able to see the specification header information like Identifiers but not the values from the property tree.

It seems like you solved the issue. Can you let me know extactly how you solved it

Hi everybody,

I am also facing a similar problem as faced by Rajesh regarding uploading the templates.While uploading, it asks for the path to upload and store; but by default,its taking it as some location on E drive, and also the system is accepting the same.But, when i am calling the same in the sysstem its not being shown in the search.

They are pointing to the root directory at the operating system level.

use transaction AL11 to check the settings.
