Will my crystal reports version 11.0.0 work if I upgrade to VS 2017 (from 2015)?

Has anyone upgraded from VS2015 to VS2017 and had crystal reports that broke. Is there any conversion that I have to do to my reports before I upgrade to VS2017?

All my reports were created in Crystal Reports XI, in the stand alone designer and imported into Visual Studio.

Hi Erica,

I changed the Tag to CR for VS.

If you have VS 2015 on the same PC you can simply open your project and it will work.

Currently we don't integrate into VS 2017, will be in SP 21 end of August. So if you have both VS's on the same PC you can create new projects using the CR templates in VS 2015 and then open in VS 2017. You'll see the CR Assemblies in References.

If you don't plan on using VS 2015 on the same PC then use the 32 and 64 bit MSI's from the download page. The CR Assemblies will get installed into the GAC and you can add them manually. No Templates available though nor can you edit the reports. Adding Assemblies they should show up in the Assemblies... Extensions...

I suggest one of you purchase the full CR 2016 Report Designer to update all of the reports so you can take advantage of the new features. You CR 10 reports will work but we do always recommend using the same version of CRD as the SDK. In this case CR for VS is version 13 and it is the SDK for CR 2011 and above, which are version 14.x.

You can get CR from this link:

https://www.sap.com/products/crystal-reports.plan.html#

To get the latest CR for VS installers go here:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Crystal+Reports%2C+Developer+for+Visual+Studio+Downloads

And note, to install into VS 2015 use the first link, all others are redist packages only, do not install them on your DEV PC. Except your VS 2017 PC for now, use the MSI packages.
