Error when assigning SID

Former Member

Hello gurus,

I am getting the error "Error when assigning SID" when trying to load data into an ODS via a PSA. What does this error mean and how do I resolve it ?

Also the QM status for this request in the ODS is Green but when I go into the monitor screen for that particular request, the QM status is Red.

Is this anything related to missing master data ?

Thanks in advance

S N

hi,

the error maens that the data extracted is not in required format so sid cannot be created and hence cannot be assigned.

so check the data format

plas assign points if helpful.

Hi all,

I have the option "Always update data, even if no master data exists" selected in the Infopackage.

I have run RSRV on this ODS object which resulted in 0 errors.

also

The complete list of error is like this

18:49:31 Error when assigning SID

18:49:31 Activation of data records from ODS object terminated

18:49:31 Error getting SID for ODS object

19:19:48 Value '!BM 1040995 - 6404 GENERAL PURPOSE PRINT ' (hex. '21424D2031303430393935202D20363430342047454E455241') of characteristic

19:99:48 Error when assigning SID

19:19:48 Activation of data records from ODS object terminated

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think the error is with the ODS per se, but the InfoObject within the ODS. If you can determine the InfoObject, try having a look at its SID table to see if the value "BM 1040995 - 6404 GENERAL PURPOSE PRINT" looks like the other values there. Maybe there will be some clues there.

The SID table will look like "/BI0/Sxxxx" where x is the InfoObject.

Hi,

'!BM 1040995 - 6404 GENERAL PURPOSE PRINT '

Add the Character ! in RSKC transaction.

If you are still getting error after adding this character in RSKC , Just remove any Blank spaces after letter t in the word <i>PRINT</i>. This removing has to be done in the PSA .

Dear SN,

Delete the Red request from Datatarget.

You have to go to PSA , Edit that Text field, and replace the ! with any character that should add meaning ( look in R/3 and change it) , Save it and reload from PSA. If you have numerous records with this , then add it RSKC , and load it for the time being, and Inform your R/3 Team to correct the same entries in the transaction data . Its always good to write to a routine to handle these if you get the same error consistently..

Hope it helps..

Thanks,

Krish

In addition to the other ideas, you can get this error if an invalid unit-of-measure comes over from R/3.

In that case, you'd either need to correct the data in R/3, or replicate the new UOM from R/3.

when are you getting the error? while loading or activating?

Not necessarily the load will fail if you dont have master data, the system would assign SID, if you dont have the master data. the only two exceptions would be, if you have checked "donot update data if there is no master data" in the infopack or you have referncial intergrity in the communication structure. If you havent have these setting set, the problem lies somewhere else.

Hi S N,

This error may occue hen you load transaction data without loading master data. You have 2 options:

1. Load the master data for the ODS and then retry the load to the ODS.

OR

2. Change the setting in the infopackage to "always load even if no master data exists" and then retry the load.
