Generic extraction...

HI,

I confused about the delta types and their function in generic extraction.

My doubt is...

We have

1)Numeric pointer 2)Calday 3)Time stamp delta types for generic...

1)If suppose we are using numeric pointer and used delta specific field as 'Matnr'

So how does this work...do we get only new records as deltas or even changed records as deltas..

Assume we have 1 to 10 as records for matnr

And deltas as 11 to 20..

My doubt is, is that a numeric pointer retrieves only new records as 11 to 20 given above

and if any changes are done for records 1 to 20..will those also be picked as deltas.

Appropriate answer will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Shashi.

hi,

pls read the passage below

if data field is Date (Record Create Date or change date), then use Upper Limit of 1 day.

This will load Delta in BW as of yesterday. Leave Lower limit blank.

2. If delta field is Time Stamp, then use Upper Limit of equal to 1800 Seconds (30 minutes).

This will load Delta in BW as of 30 minutes old. Leave Lower limit blank.

3. If delta field is a Numeric Pointer i.e. generated record # like in GLPCA table, then use

Lower Limit. Use count 10-100. Leave upper limit blank. If value 10 is used then last 10

records will be loaded again. If a record is created when load was running, those records

may get lost. To prevent this situation, lower limit can be used to backup the starting

sequence number. This may result in some records being processed more than once;

therefore, be sure this DataSources is only feeding an ODS Object

pls assign points if helpful.

HI,

Thanks for ur reply but my doubt is...

How will generic pick the changes records,

Will it pick only new records or also changed records when a numeric pointer is used..

Thanks,

Shashi.

Hi,

Whatsoever is your delta field, it suppose to pick both the changed and new records, it is upto the business requirement to set the delta field as numeric pointer/date/timestamp as desribed in the earlier response..

Pattan.
