Hi. minisap is an R/3 system without the R/3. Did that make sense? No, I'm sure. As you must be aware, the R/3 system has what is called the "Basis" Layer. This layer is the technology layer which runs R/3. It consists of the ABAP runtime and all of the ABAP development tools. This is the minisap. It is just the technology layer of R/3, without the functional modules, like SD, MM, PP, FI, etc. You can use this minisap to hone your ABAP skills. Usually, the Flight database is used for examples, such tables like SPFLI and SBOOK, and SFLIGHT.

Minisap is the "old" name for these systems. We now have the Netweaver Sneak Preview ABAP which is available in the Download section right here on SDN. This is basically the same thing, just newer and much more improved. Now there is not a "basis" layer, it is referred to as the Netweaver Application Server, which all SAP solutions run on top of.
