assign G/L account in asset accounting - why selection of chart of depreciation?

Hello all,

maybe I have a strange question... but I have to start some corrections in the customizing because of very old mistakes / wrong used settings and I don't want to do the same mistakes.

When using TA AO90 i have to enter chart of depreciation (COP). So in 1st view the entries seem to be related to COP. But after checking the tables behind the customizing i was confused... the key in this table (T095 and T095B) consists of client, chart of accounts, account determination and depreciation area. COP is missing.

Then I made a test in our sandbox system. I started AO90, chose one COP and changed an account to another account.

Then I reentered AO90 for a different COP (changed COP before with TA OAPL) and saw that the account for this 2nd COP was changed in the same way.

Do you know why COP has to be entered when opening AO90 if it's obviously not necessary? I want to understand if there is some influence, because it doesn't seem so. For my understanding there is no difference which COP is used when entering the transaction.

I know about the logic of COP-dependent determinations, but this is not what I need to know, we use this logic already.

If someone has an idea please let me know. Don't want to start "incorrect"... :-/

Thanks before!
