Hello!

I'm new to BW reporting & need some guidance on this.

I need to create Input Parameters for a query & need help on this.

<Characteristic Name><Optional / Mandatory><Range, Interval or Single Value>

Fiscal Year-- Mandatory-- Range

Fiscal Period-- Optional-- Range

District-- Mandatory-- Range

Plant-- Optional-- Range

Planning Scenario-- Mandatory-- Single

Material (Assembly)-- Optional-- Range

Could you provide a procedure for doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You can find very good details on how to create all types of variable over here:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ac/789b3c4d4d8d15e10000000a114084/content.htm

Please post back if you are stuck on any step.

Hope this helps...

I created the Variables as above. Some of them were already existing & I'm assuming I can use them.

When I run the query I get this error message: "Specify a value for ZS_FSYTD"

I created a Restricted KF & trying to assign "Year to Date" results to it(From a Basic KF)

Where am I going wrong?

Hi,

You can certainly use the varables that are already existing in your system. Can you check what kind of variable ZS_FSYTD is...

Bhanu,

ZS_FSYTD is a "Fiscal Year to Date As Of:" Var. I'm not sure how to go about getting the Fiscal Year to Date result for the Restricted KF I created.

Thanks!

It says "Variable cannot be empty. Need to fill a value in the variable ZS_FSYTD"

In your restricted RKF, what have you restricted the KF with?

I have restricted with Fiscal Year to Date YTD exit variable.

Is this right?

Thanks.

Hello,

Very simple. When you open a Query Designer to design a query on particular Cube/ODS go to the Characteristics of which you are interested to create variables. Expand the characteristic and you se the Variable symbol. right click on it and click on create variable.

Then a window apperas then it is easy for you to create range and selecting appropriate Process types and different options like Manditary etc..

there are various kind of variables- refer this -

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/f1/0a56a7e09411d2acb90000e829fbfe/frameset.htm

if you want to create variable on char -

go to BEx Query designer, create your query , go to left panel on the characteristics--open that -- see variable - right click & create.

it will take you through all the steps.
