Hi all,

If the extraction of data from R/3 in to BW is taking double the time which it used to take previously.....what might be the problem? where all should we double check?

Thanks,

Abhi

Hi,

There can be multiple reasons.

1. Data volumes have increased.

2. Some other loads are running in parallel

3. Some major activity is going on like testing for projects, etc

4. Indexes might have degenerated

5. Might be problems with the extractors

6. Might be problems with the server or server instance.

7. Some change to your rules or changes on the R3 side can be responsible.

You can check with BASIS, and the R3 abd BW teams for changes , dumps, machine performance, etc. You can use job logs (SM37) and Global Process monitor (SM66, SM51) to see where its getting stuck or you can run a SQL trace SQ05 to see where the problem is (this'll take too long).

Cheers,

Kedar

the extraction time depends on

1. volume of data.

2.system resource utility i.e if some other extraction is also runnuni than time increases.

3. the index should be present on r/3 table to speed up extraction.

you can mointor the extraction for this purpose and see the detail analsis.

or you can carry out extraction when resource are not in use.

pls assign points if helpful.

Check Transactions SM37, SM50 and SM51. Also see if any other big jobs are running in the same server.

Thanks
