Hi Experts,
I have just started to work with SAP environment. My first challenge is to install Solution Manager on SUSE 9.0 Linux. I have faced quite lot of error messages and managed to solve them with help of support and forum pages. But the last mile seems to be the hardest one. Installation stopped on phase 42 / 45 (Configure System Landscape Directory) with following errors:
WARNING 2007-02-08 09:18:13
Execution of the command "/usr/sap/HSM/DVEBMGS01/exe/jlaunch UserCheck.jlaunch com.sap.security.tools.UserCheck /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install/lib:/tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install/sharedlib:/tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install -c sysnr=01 -c ashost=haukka -c client=001 -c user=DDIC -c XXXXXX -a checkCreate -u SLDDSUSER -p XXXXXX -message_file UserCheck.message" finished with return code 4. Output:

I have stopped the installation, rebooted the system and started the installation again. Well that didnt help at all. After that I have to start Oracle database and listener to proceed with old installation.
Can you give me any advices how to solve this problem and finish the installation?
Grateful for help.
Jukka
Hello Juka,
In this case if yopu change the host name after beginning the installation I would reset the installation and begin again from scratch, it is faster than trying to know in which place the old hostname is stored.
Sorry for that,
Dolores

Hi Dolores,
I downloaded SAP Kernel files (SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB). Then I unpacked them with SAPCAR tool and copied those files to directory /sapmnt/HSM/exe. The Note 19466 tells to copy unpacked files to directory /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/exe/run, but the run folder is just a link pointing to earlier mentioned folder. Then I started sapinst again with old installation. Again it stopped on phase 42 of 45 (Configure System Landscape Directory), at the bottom of window text Creating SLDDUSER user ." Other vice error message is the same as at the first place.
In some of similar type case someone asked whether the host name have been changed. We changed the host name at the beginning of installation. The procedure had already started and we were giving basic SAP system parameters when decided to change also the host name.
Can you give me further assistance please? What could I try next?
Best regards
Jukka

Hi Dolores
Thank you for your advices.
In this case suitable SAP kernel versions would be:
SAP Kernel 6.40 32-BIT Unicode
SAP Kernel 7.00 32-BIT Unicode
And here is the Linux Im running:
cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.5-7.244-default (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSe Linux)) #1 Mon Dec 12 18:32:25 UTC 2005
Now Im wondering those kernel numbers. Are they any how related to each others?
Can I use that latest SAP Kernel 7.00 version with this Linux kernel 2.6.5-7.244-default?
Best regards
Jukka

Hello Juka,
I only can see a similar message solved applying the last kernel, do you want to try? check note 19466 and get the last available kernel.
If you have arrived this point you are working very very help
Tell me if this not helps, because if this is the case tell me, I will create a place where you can put the full logs of work directory, ok?
Best regards,
Dolores

Hi Dolores,
Thank you for your advices.
I would appreciate further assistance with this problem because I couldnt work it out jet.
I logged in to the Visual Admin by using go file in usr/sap/HSM/DVEBMGS01/j2ee/admin.
The Visual Administrator screen is opening but I cannot connect in.
The error message popping up is "Cannot open connection on host xx.yy.xx.yy and port 50004".
The login parameters specified are:
Display name: j2ee
User name: Administrator / (J2EE_ADMIN)
Host: localhost
HTTP Port: 50004
Load balancing method: manual
Transport layer: default
I tried with two different username, see above.
I also tried DDIC user logon via ssh command in Shell console, but didnt succeed.

Hopefully You can see the problem from this log file information.
As I mentioned earlier I am a green novice at SAP systems and Linux.

Hi Jukka,
At this point the system I think must be running, ABAP side. Probably there was an error in the instance startup up... Could you please have a look to the most update log in:
- /usr/sap/<SID>/<instanceID>/work/*
- /usr/sap/<SID>/<SCSxx>/work/*
check dev_disp, dev_rd, dev_w0, dev_ms, I think you must be able to see something here
Also check the J2EE start up: dev_server0
Check /etc/services, there must be an entry for sapgw01 3301
If the ABAP system is up and runnning check DDIC user logon, check if you can logon to J2EE via Visual Admin....
Hope this helps,
Dolores
