Sample part shipments

If a sample is requested by the customer & upon prod.orders creation, how do we ship out once completed to the customer.

The problem is we do not have a part #. Its treated like a First-in-article.

Can we create a delivery w/o putting in the part #, but with the text?

We also don't have the customer PO.

Your experience if any, pls share. thanks

The material may be available as Raw material or semifineshed material. Maintain the sales tabs in material master foor the same & you will be able to deliver the same. Ideally you require to use a separate sales order type for sample sales with separate pricing procedure, where except for tax condition all condition will be statistical.

Initially cust requested for a Sample (it has consumed raw mats ....), later it was accepted by cust & shipped to them without having a part #, just as an F.O.C as it was treated more like an first sample product.

I would like to know if anyone has come across dealing such F.O.C first sample part shipped to customer scenarios.

Is there any special order type in SD or any delivery type to meet this requirement?

Is't possible to create an order or delivery without putting in the part #, but some text to mention as First sample to customer X....

Pls share !

thx in advance !

Hi pri,

In satndard order only why not you determine a special item category as sample to cust (ZSAM), maintain suitable text in sales order to be copied to delivery. Make it a text item but with delivery relevance.

Why not try this way and give feed back. Hope this works
