NW Java Stack Trial on WinXP SP2 - J2EE Server - JVM fails to start

Hello Friends,

I've installed the SAP NW 2004s Java SP9 Trial on my WinXP SP2 machine (2GB). The installation worked well but the J2EE Server does not start; this is from the developer trace out of the sapmmc for server0:

Error occurred during initialization of VM

Could not reserve enough space for object heap

[Thr 1472] JLaunchIAbortJava: abort hook is called

[Thr 1472] **********************************************************************

  • ERROR => The Java VM aborted unexpectedly.

  • Please see SAP Note 943602 , section 'Java VM crashes'

  • for additional information and trouble shooting.

**********************************************************************

[Thr 1472] JLaunchCloseProgram: good bye (exitcode = -2)

Looking at 943602 (leading to 835704) the first step to solve the problem is to lower the maximum heap size of the node J2EE Engine with the ConfigTool in order to make the J2EE Engine start.

But lowering the heap (Starting ConfigTool, choosing INSTANCE_ID152297 / Servers General -> Max heap size (in MB)) seems to have no effect at all.

What can I do?

Did anybody get WebAS Java Stack running on a WinXP System?

Any Ideas?

Thanks a lot in advance,
