No Enhancement Packs Installed

Good Day,

The SAP system that I am about to take over currently does not have any enhancement packs installed nor Solution Manager. I would assume that Solution Manager should be installed first followed by the EP's. Does EP1 need to be installed first or can you just go and install the latest, EP8?

Hi Michael Ruth,

There is no EP for Solman but SPs so I would assume you are talking about SAP ERP EPs etc.

In this case yes, it is must to have to solman which have been mandatory system in any customer landscape to make sure you have a consistent upgrade for connected ERP/SCM/BW-BI etc systems

If you have solman 7.1(not that this will expire) then you can use maintenance optimizer but recommendation is to use Maintenance planner

If you have solman 7.2 then maintenance planner should be the default option you can have to upgrade any connected system

basically all you managed system information goes to SLD(Central normally PI) or solman sld in absence of PI which fills solman LMDB and then from Solman you can push to maintenance planner which checks the other impacted system's as well

hope this helps
