SAP E-Commerce Process

Hello Experts,

I would like to know the Industry Best Practices for E-Commerce Process.

- Can SAP FMS act as an OMS (Order Management System) or do we need to have CRM system?

- SAP FMS can send the pricing, promotion information to the E-Commerce site directly, correct?

- How does CAR (customer activity repository) play into this process? Once the order has been shipped to the customer, does E-commerce send information back to CAR and then would CAR send it to FMS to ship and bill the order?

- What is the standard process to send assortment information to E-Commerce website? using price catalog using t-code VPRICAT?

- What is the standard process to send inventory information to E-Commerce website?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Maruthi

Most of the answers should depend on your actual business requirement. If you have extensive requirement for order and related customer management then you would require CRM.

Using FMS you can achieve basic process. Also FMS is not front-end user friendly,

SAP FMS can send Pricing/promotion and all relevant information using standard interface available. You can use idocs or enterprise service. If you are on HANA you can use ODATA services as well. It depends on your eCommerce solution if you will need middle-ware to integrate it with SAP.

CAR acts as central repository to all your data which can be processed to get useful information needed for the business. If your eCommerce system is already integrated with your ERP (FMS in your scenario)you don't need to integrate it with CAR unless your eCommerce system holds certain customer/transnational data which is not shared with your ERP.

You can use Assortment list to share your assortment information across system. VPRICAT is just pricing catalog. Assortment list will contain a lot more information. Again depending on your eCommerce solution you might have to use middle-ware layer.

Thanks

Hi Vibhor,

Thanks for the information. This is really helpful. Couple of more questions.

FMS has to send to CAR that the order has been shipped so that online sale can be recorded in CAR, correct? Should this be done upon PGI in FMS.

Does the assortment list contain promotion data (VKA0 condition)?

Thanks,

Hi Maruthi

As you are working on CAR, hope you are aware of calculation views available as part of your HANA content for your CAR.

These calculation views directly query required data from both SAP ERP (FMS) and CAR system. Once you PGI in FMS system same will be updated in calculation view and any application using that view would know about the stock movement. This is how real time inventory application in CAR works.

Depending on your landscape you might need SLT though.

I think Assortment list contains pricing condition information, why don't you run it in your system (WBDM) for single article and check what all data is generated. It will be easier for you to get all the required information this way.

Thanks

Hi Vibhor,

Thanks for the information about CAR. I never worked on CAR so I'm not aware of all the functionalities available in CAR.

I'll run the assortment list and I'll reach out to you if I've any more questions.

Once again, thanks for all the help.

Thanks,
