Deletion of data in ODS without disturbing Delta

Former Member

Hi,

This is my scenario:

Init + delta

-

> CUBE A

ODS A -

> ODS B

-

> ODS C

Delta has been initialized and is flowing every nite from the ODS A into the three Datatargets shown above(via the PSA).

Now there is a defect in the update rule of ODS B and i have to change the update mode of all KF to addition(it was overwrite before).

For correct data to be populated in ODS B, i have to delete the contents of the ODS B and load the data again without disturbing the delta, as the data in the ODS A is massive - 2 million records.

My question is - can I delete the data from the ODS A and run a Full Load to ODS B , without disturbing the delta administration?

If i do this, Will delta from ODS B to CUBE A and ODS C also fail.

Can anyone tell me the exact proces and how to achieve this scenario?

thnks in advance

Dhanya.

hi,

two doubts:

1. if i will run full load as repair full load,do i have to run init again to all the datatargets?

2. ODS C is getting updating further to a cube by a delta mechanism . Will anything hapen to this mechanism ther?

---that delta sequence b/w ODS C and its target cube, wont get effected by these steps..

hi all

thnks so much for early responses.

so finally i will do the following:

1) right click and delete the data in ODS B.(by this all the requests in ODS i.e full load, init ,delta n repair full req all will be deleted)

2) Run a full load only to ODS B(not repair full).i will be running with selections.

3) then Run an init without datatrasfer from ODS A to all the data targets.

4) then continue with ur deltas...for the next loads...

correct me if there is anything wrng in the procedure.

Hi Dhanya,

Just a point to add on

3) Delete the init load from the infopak before doing the init without datatransfer. In Maintain Infopackage screen, choose 'init options for source system' from the scheduler menu & delete ur previous init.

If the number of requests are not much, I guess you can delete the requests one by one, change your update rule, activate and transport it and then reconstruct the requests.

Hi

1) delte the data in ODS B

2) Run a full load only to ODS B

3) then Run an init with out datatrasfer from ODS A to all the data targets

4) then continue with ur deltas...for the next loads...

hope this helps

Suggestion is good, you just forget to mention that it's necessary to delete the init channel (for every data target), before doing the init without datatransfer...

also...i am not sure whether ODS B will simply take a normal full load..maybe u will have to mark it as a 'repair full request'(from 1st menu in infopackage menus)..

This is not a problem since, as you can see from this scenario, ODS B will be empty before accepting the full request !

yes roberto..i agree..

but after the normal full load..will it allow the next init and deltas to load?

i have seen ODS not allowing delta loads..giving message that 'ODS has a full load request'..i mean normal..but if that request is repair full..it allows the deltas..

Ok, now I'm understanding your point.

Full has to be ticked as repair !
