Content Exchange with ICE

Hi all,

We are currently managing all company's documents in KM folders.

We want to start working with rooms, and we want to move documents from their

current location in KM folders to their respective rooms, and maintain permissions.

I was suggested to use ICE for this matter, but ICE is for moving data between

different repositories. When importing ICE package i cant choose the location for

the data to be saved - It will be saved in the same location that it was imported from.

Is there a way to move documents between different locations in the KM and

maintain permissions?

Thanks,

Moti.

Hi,

Have you tried using the "move" function available from the context menu next to the folder you want to move?

Navigate to KM Content, find teh folder you want to move, check the box, select "move" from the context menu, navigate to the room you want the folder to go in and click "OK".

Havnt tried it, but should work for you. May take some time to do this for all your folders though.

Cheers

Hi,

Indeed, what you have suggested is working.

But, as you mentioned, moving hundreds of thousands of documents like this is

tedious. Is there a better way of doing this?

Hey Moti,

What type of repository are your folders stored in? DB, fsdb or dbfs?

If you are using fsdb or possibly dbfs, you could try moving the folders through the file system, like you would using windows explorer, instead of from within the portal.

Hi,

The issue in not just moving files from one place to another.

The issue is maintaining permissions and other properties and settings.

I need to further investigate the results of moving files/folders via KM interface

and via WebDAV interface - but thanks for your help.
