I belongs to SAP Technical(ABAP) area, but my interest more lies in functional area. As I am in the begining of my career. Suppose If I get chnce to move myself into the Functional area. Then what should I do. Should I move myself. What are the future prospect of SAP Functional Guys compare to SAP technical guy.
I am also ABAP CONSULTANT. I have also so much interest in functional compare to technical. Wt about ur knowledge in which module. Becoz so much guys are interested in SD and MM ONLY. So u can go that way otherwise u can go for BIW. Now a days ABAP with BIW lot of scope is there. I am also so much interested to go with ABAP with BIW ONLY.
Seeing that are already in the technical side it would be good to stay there for a short while. Abap is one way of learning from all the different areas in SAP and a way to build contacts to move to what ever stream you feel most comfortable with.
This Blog from Matt Danielsson is a good read and may give you some more things to think about before making a move. Function guy with technical background is always a plus and nice to work with. The more technical experience you can build before moving the better.
As you said you are in technical now, develop some objects on technical side and as you are interested in functional automatically you will gain knowledge in that also
