i am about to set al_engine processes 8 to 12 in sap designer, tools -options then will the changes be done automatically reverted to dsconfig file . and after the changes do i need to restart job server.

is it good to change and if so what is the recommended value for 18 gb ram .pageable cache is default 4 gb .

we are trying to do these because there is a staging job which is taking time about 3hr -3o mins .

and there are around 8 parallel workflows in that, and dataflows are 17 .

there is no bulk loading enabled for this dataflows .

is there any better solution for this other than increasing the no. of parallel process.

Designer tool option settings are registered in the dsconfig.txt file. Restarting the job server is not needed to make this new setting effective.

But whether it will help to speed up your overall process is not certain. You'll first have to identify the bottleneck. Suppose your CPU utilisation is already at 100%, then adding more processors won't help.

hi dirk

thanks for your reply. I guess there are no bottleneck issues because the job is completing little early than previous runs. but some dataflows execution time didn't change .

and I see all the parallel dataflows are set to pageable cache and it is 3546mb all the dataflows are using this memory at a same time in the log file .

Is it issue with that pageable cache.

Try to keep memory utilisation in your data flows as low as possibe so thay you don't need pageable cache at all.
