There are several frameworks, but as you mentioned, the issue is the lack of activity around it.
When I speak with partners, their reason is mainly to not rely their solution on top of a code that they don't know who will maintain (and normally don't want to fix problems themselves)
I followed the development of Dover and particularly know the developer. If I had to choose, that will be the one. I also know some solutions that are developed on top of it. And seem to work quite well.
