MTXW causing transport to hang

My customer is running ECC6/Kernel 7.00 in V5R4 of i520 1.9GHz 3,800CPW machine. Since going live the first working day of this year, transport to PRD system hanged every 7-10 days. I noticed that this was because TP job was in MTXW status. Several other WPnn jobs were also in MTXW. SAP users may or may not hangs when transport hangs. And when I ran WRKLNK command in my 5250 session, it went into MTXW status and hanged also.

The CUM PTF package is one step below the latest and DW, TP, R3TRANS patches are at the last week of December level. No luck searching SAP notes nor iSeries APAR information apart the ones that apply to earlier release than V5R4.

Anyone can provide suggestion ?

A further internal search identified bugs in V5R4 that cause MTXW in allocation of IFS. They are described in APAR number SE25776 and SE27557 with PTFs that solve the problem.

As far as I guess, it can only be in MTXW status, if its trying to access shared data, data which is being accessed by more than one wp. Have you checked if there are multiple TP's running or something like that???

If not, and as you said you already have installed the latest infopar...

I will try upgrading the TP, R3TRANS and the DW, maybe that will do the trick for you...

Other than that. no ideas...open up an OSS message
