hi,
i'm working since days to get the netweaver sneak preview running, but it still wont work...
in my MMC i've the SAP system called "J2E". when i start for example the "web application designer", i have to choose the system to connect with. i only have this J2E system running. the connection always fails. i get the following error:
"Logon to selected system was not possible. Try to log on to another one?"
does the preview version only work with systems with the system id: "NSP"?
another question: in which case do i need the loopback adapter?
thank you for your help!
best regards!
J2E is the system id for the java sneak preview, NSP is the system id for the ABAP sneak preview. What exactly are you trying to work with? I am not familiar with the term "web application designer".
You need the loopback adapter when you are not connected to a network.

hi rich,
thank you for your answer!
in netweaver many tools are included. the tools i would like to use are the so called bEX tools (business EXplorer tools) - for example:
bEX Web Application Designer
bEX Query Designer
bEX Report Designer
...
with these tools you can develop reports, etc for the enterprise portal.
the problem is, that obviously i've installed the netweaver JAVA sneak preview and if i try to open the tools mentioned above the SAP logon-dialog appears. then i enter the system-id, user-name, password etc. but it doesn't work.
i believe that these tools need to connect to the BI 7.0 and the big problem is, that i do not know WHERE to get the BI? is the BI part of the ABAP sneak preview?
please help me to find the BI download... where can i get it? and can install it parallel to my already installed JAVA sneak preview?
thank you very much in advance for your help!!
best regards
thomas
Hi Thomas, I am not familiar with the bEX stuff, but I know that BW is included in the ABAP sneak preview. You have to do a couple things to get it working, but it is there. In my experience, you can run the engines in paraellel, but for me it was important to install the ABAP stack first, then the java stack.
