How will I begin on SAP XI?

I was asked to research on the SAP XI. I have the documents but still confused how does it work. Our client is from the other country. We have a SAP netweaver installer. What are the things to prepare to set this up? What will be the setup if our client is from the other country? And SAP Xi resides in our server? Or should we suggest the client to install XI in their office?

Points for the helpful ideas.

Thanks!

    Hi Maui,

Along with the various replies that you have received for your query you can do the following things as well:

Start with XI Overview. Then read about SLD in detail. After knowing about SLD read about IR and ID. Once you done with it then go to RWB. These all are the major players in XI scenario.

After completing these topics you can do any scenario, which will give you the practical understanding that how it is working. Please focus on that why do you need XI, why SLD, IR and ID. Why any step is required?

Understanding these questions will make provide you better understanding about XI.

Below are few links that may be useful for you:

    Plz read though this Wiki:

    Hi again,

I don't know much about XML and iDoc. Would that be a problem? From XML format the messages will be received by XI and it will be converted to iDoc, right? Where should the SAP adapter located in our side or on client's?
