Hi,

Product proposal triggers by the customer who is purchasing where cross selling is triggered by the material being sold. Like, for a customer who buys certain set of products regularly from us, we would want the order entry team to have those products reminded. This we do based on the previous purchase history of the customer. But in case of cross selling, for eg, when a customer buys shoes we would want to sell him either socks or polish. Its complimentary materials sold through cross selling.

Menu path for Item proposal : Logistics, sales and dist , Master data, products, Item proposal, create. Or t.code VA51.

VOV8 to configure the sales document type( MS ) as relevant for item proposal.

Item proposals are sales area specific. Each time a sales order is created, the system would automatically propose materials defined in the item proposal.

Hope it helps. Pl reward if useful.

Thanks & Regards

Based on the replies above came to the conclusion that

product proposal is dependent from the customer and the defined sales area. The proposed materials are proposed directly in the sales document without quantity specification and item number.

The product proposal generally occurs during the creation of a document (Transaction VA01). A redetermination of the product proposal only occurs if the sales document type or the sold-to party is changed.

Whereas Cross-selling is dependent from the material. After entering the material in the document, a dialog box appears with a list of materials for selection. Here, one can select from materials that were most frequently sold together.

Thanks everyone for their comments.

HI gaurav product proposal and item proposal are one and the same

item proposal is nothing but proposing the list of items which are regularly ordered by a customer to avoid the time consumption and meets the accuracy from the enduser

this can be configured in SD by using Tcode VA51.

cross selling is proposing the relevent or the additional items which can be sold along with the main product. for eg. mobile set along with u can also propose , head set, chargeer, pouch etc. cross selling is configured by condition technique and once it is mainatained it shoud be assigned to the customer master data. i.e, in sales area data , sales taba. product proposal field

hope i would answer u

best regards

Hi,

Cross Selling: Mail order catalog retailers frequently use cross selling to increase sales. When a customer orders an article over the phone, the order taker can suggest additional articles that the customer might buy. For example, if the customer orders a VCR, you might suggest purchasing some blank tapes; for a cellular phone, a leather carrying case.

The sales transaction takes place as normal: The customer chooses an article and the order taker enters it on the sales order screen. The order taker can press Enter after each article, or wait until the customer has finished selecting the article he or she wants.

If the order taker presses Enter after entering the data for one article, then a dialog box appears automatically, displaying a list of articles to be suggested to the customer. These cross selling articles are ones that pertain specifically to the purchased article.

If the order taker waits to press Enter until the customer has finished ordering, then the dialog box appears automatically, this time showing all of the articles in the sales order, along with their corresponding cross selling articles.
