Hi Everybody,
Currently we have Portal applications running on SQL 2000.We are going to decomission the servers, but before that we want to take a final Database backup for future restore. Is the Database restore possible with the ' Full Database' backup taken by SQL Enterprise Manager while the database is online ?
Please suggest.
Thanks,

Hi Marcin,
Are you talking of msdb and Master databases ? Can you please be elaborate on what all to be backed up before scrappin down the server for future restore ?
Is the database backup while it is Online ok ? I mean,do we need to take the database offline before backup ?
Thanks,

Hi Samik,
You don't need to take database offline.

Hi,
The full database backup works only for data stored in tables. If You want to migrate all data You must remember to configure SQL logins, users, database and object owners and permissions.

Marcin
