How does alternative sequence work?

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding sequences. I have a product, which has only 1 operation that needs to be done: production. However, this production can be done with 2 tools, so I want to make 2 separate sequences, each with one of the tools (assigned as PRT), so I can select which tool has been used. How do I do this?

Do I need to create an alternative sequence? And what do I need to do with Branch operation and Return operation? I don't want to return to an operation, the product will have either operation 1 or operation 2.

Thanks Umesh and Solomon for your answers! So I think when I create an alternative sequence, it will work fine. Then, when creating the production order I have to select if I want to use the alternative sequence (with tool 2) instead of the standard sequence (with tool 1). This all works fine.

However, I'd like to choose when confirming the production order which sequence has been used. Now, I have to select this when creating the order. Is is possible to change the sequence of a released production order, or even better; is is possible to select the used sequence when confirming the production order?

Hi Manate,

You can use variant configuration for selecting the PRT based on the characteristics given in the finished material.

you can use dependency for the selection condition and can choose the desired PRT.

Also the same way you can select the operation based onthe charcteristics defined.

Hello

Please create alternative Routing as per your requirement.

With same details you can create multiple routing with different counter number.

You can use the Production version functionality and create two Production version with both Routing criteria.

As per your requirement select the production version Manually/Automatic with help of Tcode: OPL8

Alternative Sequence normally used for replace the existing operation in same routing and counter number.
