Hi,

When users request for connection to the sap server, all the requests are put in a queue by the dispatcher. When the dispatcher finds a free workprocess, the user request is assigned to that work process on FIFO basis. Data input provided by the user are transfered to the memory area of the workprocess. The work process communicates with the database as per the requirement of the user querry and picks data from the database into its memory area and inturn returns it to the user.

When the user terminates the connection the work process attached to it flushes its memory area and becomes free again to be assigned to another user request. This flow of data into the memory of the workprocess and flushing of data from the memory of the work process is known as roll-in and roll-out.We can say the rollin takes place at the begining of a user request and rollout takes place on termination of the same.

SAINT update:

saint update means applying a patch to enhance the functions of saint. This becomes necessary to accomodate the newer attributes of the new add-on support packages. Saint is mainly used for add-on tools.

Hope this clarifies your querry.

Pls dont forget to award points if solved.
