RESB Table cleansing

Dear All,

I am deleting the obsolete records in RESB. I have set the production order status as either "TECO" or (CNF DLV). After setting this status, I still find the reservation in RESB for my BOM components. If I delete these entries in RESB, will it impact any subsequent processes (Eg: Order Settlement, Order Closure (Status: CLSD))?

Hi

You are obsoletely right. I would like to bring it your notice the following.

In my SAP system , many production orders are with status "CLSD" ( closed). But still I can reservation entries in RESB for that particular production order components . Why the reservations are NOT automatically deleted from RESB when production order is set to CLSD status or TECO status ? Isn't strange behaviour ? So we are forced to delete those RESB records. Please guide me on this

Thanks

they are evidence, proof , verification for your business process, basis for reports and analysis.

What problems do you have that you bother about a few records in RESB. If you have never heard about archiving then you have certainly bigger tables which are more worth to look at.

If you are keen to get some data out of your system then start with the data management guide: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/download/attachments/247399467/DM_Guide.pdf?version=1&modificationDate...

q1) MBVR

q2) can't be answered as you did not about what they are and how they were created

q3) no you can't delete automatic reservation with MBVR

The reservation of a subcontract order is actually nothing else than the bill of material for this specific PO, that you can find in the purchase order item detail material tab by clicking the components button. If you delete a component there with transaction ME22N then your reservation is gone.

Does this at all make any sense then? why would you delete the components from a purchase order? Are those reservations open
and block your stock from other usage? If they are not valid anymore then why not closing or deleting the PO?

If it is an order reservation then it is created from an order (workorder, production order, process order....) and you you have to close those orders or delete orders that are not needed.

Don't fool around in RESB without knowing the data relation, SAP is a process system, direct table maintenance usually results in inconsistencies.

Hi,

Thank you for your info.

I was trying to delete the RESB via program RM07RVER / T code: MBVR. But using this transaction, we can't delete the particular line item of the reservation (Eg: The reservation XYZ has three line items L1, L2 & L3. And if I want to delete particularly L2, this is not possible using MBVR).

Q1: You mentioned as "Manual created reservations can only be deleted using maintenance transaction" Do you mean the maintenance transaction as MBVR here? Or you mean different maintenance transaction?

Q2: Also you said that the automatically created reservations are tight to their originating process and you can delete it from the maintenance transaction of the originating object. Could you please let me know the maintenance transaction of the originating object?

Q3: Is it not possible to delete the reservations of type "SB" (Dependent Req) / AR (Order Reservation) / BB (Sub Contracting) using the transaction MBVR?

Thanks

how do you want delete? with a Z-report or with a standard transaction?

what is the problem with those records in RESB? Does it harm any standard process? If it disturbs a Z-report then better change the Z-report.

Manual created reservations can be deleted with the maintenance transaction

Automatic created reservations are tight to their originating process and you can only delete it from the maintenance transaction of the originating object.

They are removed when archiving the originating object.
