Why SAP is creating duplicate ROLEs in PPM project? annoying!

Hi,

When user is resolving some specific check lists then SAP is creating duplicate roles in the project, say for example,

(1) I created a project with name/ID My_Project_01, it got a ROLE (Lab Technician) from its template and I can see it under projects RESOURCES tab, the ROLE_ID is 100. If I go to RESOURCES tab then I can see only 1 entry for this ROLE (Lab Technician), well

(2) Then, I resolved a check list, say CL_01 in first Phase, this CL_01 check list also has the same exact ROLE (Lab Technician) in it/CL_01, here its ROLE_ID is 200,

(3) Now after resolving the check list CL_01, if I go to (newly created) My_Project_01's RESOURCES tab then there I can see 2 entries for the same ROLE (Lab Technician) in the left side panel grid

I checked the ROLE_NAME, ROLE_TYPE, ROLE_FUNCTION is 100% exactly matched the text in (1) & (2) in DETAILS sub tab, except the ROLE_ID are different (100 vs. 200)

Pls. let us know why SAP is creating a new/another/duplicate ROLE upon resolving some specific check list?

    Hi,

    when you resolve checklist references, the system creates the roles from the checklist template again by default. This even happens if roles with the same project type and name already exist.

    The "Use Roles" function enables you to specify that roles that already exist are not created again via the checklist template. Please refer also to the online documentation for PPM available in the SAP Help Portal (chapter > Creation of a Project > Templates > Work with Checklist References).

    So, please set the "Use Roles" indicator while resolving the checklist to avoid duplicate roles.

    Thank you.

    I can confirm that the Use Roles check box is checked already but still system is creating duplicate roles! Can you pl. help us how to fix this issue

    Hi,

    when you resolve the checklist and set checkbox 'Use Roles' then the system compares the role type and the role description, the ID is not checked (see class CL_DPR_CHECKLIST_RESOLVER, method VISIT_PARTICIPANT). In your case I would assume that the role is not duplicated (based on your description).

    Do you maybe have any customer enhancement or BAdI in use (e.g. BAdI DPR_ATTRIBUTES, method COPY_CKLIST_TEMP2CKLIST)? What is your PPM release and Support Package level?
