publishing bw applications onto portal

Suppose we develop BW web applications ( say BW reports ) using WAD.i need to publish those reports as i views in the portal .Hope i am correct.

Apart from it i have read that BW roles created by means of BEx tools can also be integrated into portal using role migration

what actually is role migration and whats the difference between these two ways of integrating BW web appl's in the portal?

please help
