Can any one tell me how IDOC works in XI?
Thanks
Utpal
Hi,
From R/3 thru the mode of IDOC the Data are send to the SAP XI. In SAP XI the message flows in the mode of XML. Thru the help of Adapter the IDOC send from the R/3 is converted into XML and sent. Similarly with the help of Adapter the Data is send to R3 in the mode of IDOC.
This might help you

HI UNP,
Adding to the above points,IDCO's are Intermediate documents which are resides in R/3 System, for sending these IDOCS to any SAP System or Non-SAP system you are using middle ware as XI.
R/3--idoc
Receiver System(any location over the internet)
For Sending idoc from R/3 to XI we need to specify the detailse of the XI, you need to create RFC destination, port, partner profiles in R/3 for identifying the corresponding Integration Server.
After reaching the IDOC from r/3 to XI and there xi it has its own pipeline steps to need to execute it and send to the receiver system.
Hope you will understand this.
Thanks and Regards,
Sekhar

Adding to that, you need to create RFC destination, port, partner profiles on SAP side to send IDOC to XI. and also you need to create a business system for SAP in SLD with the logical system name.
