How to run Assignment in Series - Workflow can not connect two Assignments

Here is my scenario:

I have a custom repository with no Taxanomy table.

I want to run series of Assignments.

I defined 5 assignments.

Thought that I can use MDM Workflow to call them in series. However MDM Workflow does not let me connect one Assignmen Task to next Assignment Task.

How to run Assignments in Series, either using Workflow or by using someother mechanism.

Idealy it could have been nice to Group the Assignments like Validation.

Or even Much better powerful Assignment and Validation Script. Add "Script Documentation" to that please.

Thanks,

Abhay

Just want to say I am on 5.5.34.54 and my multiple assignment in workflow works fine for me. I actually got the same error when I first tried it. But what I did is recreated workflow step by step: Start then the connector, then first assignment then connector etc...each time I add object on the viso, I make sure it is connected correctly.

Since the record in Assignment table was locked. It did not let me connect two Assignment task in Workflow.

Problem is already solved.

I tested with 2 assignments.

I created 2 assignments.

My workflow definition has a Start, Assign1, Assign2, Stop.

Start -> Assign1

Assign1 -> Assign2

Assign2-> Assign3

They are connected in Series.

Make sure all the steps are connected properly.

I executed the workflow and the two fields in the table got the assigned values as the result of the workflow.

Check the version of your Data Manager. The DataManager I used to test this is of version 5.5.34.26.

A single workflow should suffice for your requirements.

However, there is a workaround for this.

You create 5 workflows each with a single assingment step.

For the <b>Stop Step</b> in the Workflow you have <b>Launch</b> Property.

In this case, for workflow1 you set the launch property to Workflow2.

For workflow2 set the launch property as workflow3.

This way you are calling separate workflows sequentially.

I had tried exactly what you had described as first option.

I am using MDM 5.5.34.46.

However while connecting the Assignment 1 to Assignment 2, it returns error,

"Connector is glued to wrong point on the step".

Hi,

this is currently a limitation in MDM 5.5 SP04. It will be removed with SP05.

Kind regards,

Andreas

Is this limitation will be considered to be removed with SP05?

OR

Is it already being considered to be removed with SP05 and it's in development?

When the SP05 is going to be out?

How Adhappan Thiaga was able to connect to two Assignment task in series?

Adhappan would you like to challange the statement made by Andreas by proving that MDM 5.5.34.46 has NO limitation with the functionality as described in my earlier post? If functionality work as you described then SAP need not address it to fix.

What's the truth?

Hi,

this limitation is known and will be removed with SP05.

According to current planning, SP05 is scheduled for end of March.

I can currently not verify Adhappan's findings in a system, but know from experience that this was not working in SP04. There might be early SP04 patches, which did not check for this unsupported arrangement or behaved in an unpredictable way.

Kind regards,

Andreas
