Add Counter

I am doing a POC for a File to File scenario and in the Receiver Comm Channel I am using the function add counter....

My question is where is the information stored with regards to the last number etc...

How does the counter know what the last number was and more importantly how do I control this... If I want to reset the counter what do I need to do?

Ok I am really quite confused...

Now you say that the info is stored in the same directory as the receiver file is dropped off to?

So where is this info? How do I access it and how do I reset it?

Actually no... because I have restarted maybe 4 to 5 times this morning and yet the counter still carries on from where it left off.

So it was 011 when I restarted and when I proceeded to send a nother file the counter resumed at 012...

So what I want to know is where is this data stored and how do I reset it completely...

Hi,

The data is stored in the directory with the file name that you specified in the receiver file adapter communication channel.

For each file that is sent from XI through File adapter to external system,the add counter function will add a number to the filename and stored in the directory specified in the receiver file adapter.

Hi,

I would suggest change the target directory and then restart XI. After restarting rerun the interface and then check once again.

Q: After configuring a File Adapter receiver channel with the File Construction Mode set to "Add Counter", I noticed that the counter gets reset each time I restart the J2EE engine.

A: This behavior is by design. The current counter value is not persisted, but only kept in memory. It is intended to generate distinct file names, but not strictly increasing numbers. After a J2EE restart, the File Adapter will start writing messages beginning with the smallest free counter number (skipping existing larger numbers).</i>
