Hi

I am working on a scenario with SOAP RECIEVER using HTTPS. Bascially my issue is not solved but would like to understand

"sap soap receiver https with client authentication vs without client authentication"

1. When https with client authentication to be used and how to identify?

2. When to use https without client authentication and how to identify?

Tried various sources to get the resolved but nothing much helpful. Appreciate for your kind response.

Hi,

1. When https with client authentication to be used and how to identify?

-->> this is used when you used the certificate as an authentication medium to exchange information.

2. When to use https without client authentication and how to identify?

-->> this is used when you do not use certificate but user id password or WSSE username token.

Hope this help.

regards,

Harish

i have a HTTPS url for SOAP reciever. configured the interface and the test gave a messaging error "peer certificate rejected by chain..." error . I assume a certificate is required and is installed (along with chain). Still the error persists but in this case would it be a 'certificate with client authentication' or 'certificate without client authentication'? If either one those, then how would be determine which option to choose given the scenario? pls can you advise?

Hi Prabhu,

What is the authentication mechanism of you receiver web service? As you have HTTPS receiver you definitely need the SSL/TLS certificate. The SSL/TSL certificate are on the URL (and your error is because of SSL certificate).

So fix your error Upload the SSL/TLS certificate chain (root and URL) to TrustedCA.

Once your SSL/TLS issue is resolved then you can check on Authentication way. If you get the 401 it mean the web service is not able to authenticate your request.

regards,

Harish
