FAIL: process hdbxscontroller HDB XS Controller not running

Hi,

I successfully installed HANA Express 2.0, sp1 with XSA and all my proecsses and daemons were working fine.

When I restarted my machine and did a HDB start, I get this error

FAIL: process hdbxscontroller HDB XS Controller not running

Tried HDB stop and start several times...but didn't help. What could be wrong?

Can I restart hdbxscontroller by hand?

Ravi - will you review the xscontroller*.log file(s) and see if there is any clues to what is happening.

You can get the HXE log files by using the HANA alias 'cdtrace' cmd, this produce a set of log files including the xscontroller*.log files.

Assuming that this is a VM, this can happen if the IP address is not set right in the hosts file. To resolve:

    1) /sbin/ifconfig -a in the HANA Express hxeadm console

    look for inet add4: 10.48.57.149

    2) make sure that this same IP address is in your /etc/hosts file

    10.48.57.149 hxehost.localdomain hxehost

    3) Set this IP in your windows hosts file also (if running a client/browser against hxehost)

    c:\windows\system32\driver\etc\hosts

In my case, I found that the self signed certificate of XSA engine is expired.

you can check that by using xs-admin-login command from <sid>adm user. it will ask you to login using xsadmin user.

After entering a correct credentials, if SSL certificate is expired, it will raise an error saying "ERROR: Could not find a valid trust certificate ... etc" as in the below example.

    "

    htsadm@htest:/usr/sap/HTS/HDB02> cd /hana/shared/HTS/xs/bin/

    htsadm@htest:/hana/shared/HTS/xs/bin> ./xs-admin-login

Enter password for XSA admin user 'XSA_ADMIN':

ERROR: Could not find a valid trust certificate file for the controller API in /hana/shared/HTS/xs/bin/../bin/../controller_data/controller/ssl-pub/router

    "

to fix the problem then, temporary you can renew the self signed certificate by the following command:

XSA reset-certificate as in the below example:

    "

    htsadm@htest:/usr/sap/HTS/HDB02> XSA reset-certificate

    Stopping XSA ...

    Starting XSA ...

    OK

    "

If command freezes and OK didnt show up. check the certificate file in the paths mentioned in the first error message, you may need to delete the certificate file then rerun the command (also check HDB info to kill the hang XSA process)
