Hi Experts,

I am interested in the Pro's and Con's regarding SRM as an add-on to ERP 2005.

- what is the limitations? Disadvantages?

- What kind of business situations are suited for this scenario?

- What are the benefits?

I hope you can help me here!

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards

Line Wiuff

Hi,

Well i did not go for the add-on on my customer projects... but here are some hints :

- pros : decrease TCO / hardware cost

- cons :

too many functional limitations

no or not enough customer feedbacks up to now

no way to migrate from add-on to external set-up

Kind regards,

Yann

Hi,

I'm a current user of the add-on.

My organization had an ITS implementation for Purchase Requisition in 4.6 and decided to migrate to ECC6.0 with SRM 5.5 instead of maintaining the old development (I joined at testing phase).

Our scenario is currently limited to shopping carts and customizing was intentionnally kept at minimum level.

The go live happened in November last year.

We have 600+ users among which 100 approvers.

My feedback:

--- integration with HR was not an easy job (mainly because we had Organization Management in our previous implementation).

- we had a big performance issue because our users had been spammed internally by PSM module for 3 years (the system didn't manage to display mailbox with 10'000+ documents, solved by cleaning...),

- given that previously users were creating PR the transition was not really smooth (they re-order similar tings all the time),

- still struggling with an address issue (address on each line of the printed PO if generated from more than one shopping cart). In theory I understand the back-end can be fed with whatever we want but we're not there yet (we may miss MM expertise though).

- quite a lots of notes to apply.

+ it enabled us a direct connection to PSM (Public Sector Management) which is really good in our context (custom n-step approval, use of a BADI),

++ we plan some B2B connection, I already tested it and it was really cool (you shop on another web site, and when you check out there is almost a PO).

++ OSS support good.

Anne,

Thanks for your post. I am evaluating the SRM Add-On to ECC 6.0 and would like to talk to a few companies that have performed this implementation.

Would you be available to discuss your experience with the SRM Add-On?

My email address is skhan@cienapartners.com

Dear Line Wiuff,

I hope this would help you,You have two installation options,

1. Install SRM 5.0(SRM server 5.5)and ERP 2005 in the same client of one system. In this case, you must not install SRM_Plus at all.

2. Install SRM 5.0(SRM server 5.5)and ERP 2005 separately on two different systems(SIDs). Then you have to install SRM_PLUS on the SRM system.

Note: Only the following scenarios are supported in the one-client system

1. Self service procurement (Classic deployment) since ERP 2004

2. Self service procurement with supplier integration for MRO materials(since ERP 2004 Content shipment)

3. Self service procurement (lean deployment)-Since ERP 2005

4. Invoice management system(IMS) since ERP 2005

5. Catalog content management (CCM) since ERP 2004.

Conclusion:

Option 1 : Restricted SRM functionalities

Option 2 : Full SRM functionalities.

Some more info on the SRM Add-on:

The product instance SAP ERP 2005 - SAP SRM Server ECC Add-On consists of the components SAP SRM Server 5.5 and SAP ECC Server 6.0. The product instance allows

installation of SAP SRM Server as an Add-On to SAP ERP 2005 - SAP ECC Server.

Within mySAP ERP, SAP SRM Server ECC Add-On is required for certain processes only.

The mySAP ERP 2005 license only covers self-service procurement, service procurement, invoice processing, catalog content management and the supplier collaboration scenario for MRO (maintenance, repair and operations).

Hi

SRM as addon doesnt support:

1. SRM as an add-on to mySAP ERP 2005 does not support hub deployment.

2. SAP ERP 2005 with SRM as an add-on does not support any multiple backend functions for procurement.

3. It is not possible to upgrade or migrate from a separately-installed SRM system to SAP ERP 2005 with SRM as an add-on.
