LDAP connection from ABAP to Portal

Hello All,

My landscape constsist of Portal (Sandbox, Dev, QA, Prod) - in which all of our end users will ultimately access the system. CRM (Sandbox, Dev, QA, Prod), BI (Sandbox, Dev, QA, Prod) and an SM1 system that is configured with CUA (controlling Sandbox, Dev, QA, and Prod for all ABAP systems).

The portal is connected to Active Directory to do user authentification for internal users. External users are to be stored in the portal's local database.

My question is this: How do you go about synchronizing the users between Portal and the ABAP Systems? I will need users external and internal users as well as maintain whether the portal user is coming from Sandbox, Dev, QA or Prod.

My instructor from my ADM200 course implied that I could use an LDAP connection to access the portal users from the CUA system. I cannot find any documentation on this.

Any other alternatives would also be entertained. 😊

Thanks in advance,

Paul
