Crosstab export to Excel

I have 2 distinctly separate crosstabs that are side by side in Crystal. When I export the report to excel, which is what the client will receive. If I export Using the Microsoft excel (97-2003) it places the cross tabs above one another instead of side by side. When I export using the Microsoft excel data only format excel puts each crosstab side by side but it merges cells for no reason. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,

    Hi Matt,

Do you have anything above the crosstabs? Title, other data? The column merge happens because Crystal is trying to line up all the columns in the report and if you have objects above the crosstab that do not line up with the columns in the crosstab, it will just merge everything in that column.

Exporting as Data Only is usually the best option for something like this.

If you need a title or something above the crosstabs, line everything up from the left side out. Get those objects as close together otherwise the gap may create an extra column or merge with one of the columns in the crosstab. There is very little room for error with the gaps and aligning with the crosstab columns.

Sometimes, it may be better to just have the crosstab in the report when you export to Excel.

    Good luck,

    Brian
