Business Objects in AWS Strategy

Dear friends, we are starting to explore moving our infrastructure into the cloud world of AWS. I am looking for anything you can share that will help as far as architecture design is concerned.


Currently, we are running a single BO server, with CMS database running in Oracle, and the file store sitting on the network share. If you have experience with moving your environment into AWS, please share anything which will help with below questions, or anything special that might help us. Thanks in advance!

- Where did you set up file store? On the server itself?
- How did you set up backups?
- What architecture did you use for DR?
- What was most cost effective set up for your environment?

Denis, thank you very much for the links. I did find these blogs, but they don't seem to answer my specific questions about architecture decisions of BO set up in AWS. :(

But those depend on what you want to achieve and resources you have and do not differ from non-virtual/cloud deployments.
FRS should be where there is plenty of space and where disk I/O is great
Backups should include CMS DB and FRS and well as binary backups of the OS (folders/registry)
DR will depend on your ability to clone/replicate CMS DB and FRS
Cast effectiveness depends on original business needs and required size of the deployment.
