Hi Tanveer,

In the installation guide , it says so many components to install

1. MDME Server

2.MDME Console

3.MDME Clix

4.MDME Client catalog manager

5.MDME Import manager

etc..

Do we have to install all the components or selected components ? if yes, what is the sequence?

We have CRM applications , for that XI is must to connect MDM ?

Thanks,

Kristene

We are installing the MDM 5.5 (the latest patch from SAP Net) with Oracle Database, the 10.2 version. We've done all these installations steps, but when we try to connect the MDM console with the Oracle database, we receive the following message:

Control Socket Login Error: using different versions of the server and client

Have you guys experienced this error?

Thanks in advance !

Kristene,

MDM installation is not at all like the standard Web Application Server installations. I would highly recommend reading through the installation guide very throuroughly as it's quite different. You will be pleased to know that it's much easier and quicker to install. It's more or less just a matter of extracting the installation files to the right directory. Just make sure the server pre-requisites have been completed and you're in good shape.

Also, you mentioned how the installation requires many different components. Many of those installations are done on the client side, and used to remotely connect to the server, much like using the SAP Gui to connect to the Web Application Server with other installations. The MDM Import Manager, MDM Console, MDM Data Manager, and MDM Syndicator are all installations for the client side. Each has a particular role.

That error appears because, as it states, your server and your GUI clients are from a different versions, please make sure you have all of them in the same patch / SP / hotfix

Hi,

Lets answer the question one by one..

Did any one installed MDM 5.5 ?

Yes..I did..

This can be installed on only SQL database ?

No, it can be installed on IBM DB2 and Oracle as well

What is the procedure to install MDM 5.5

Well, you can download the zip file from the market place.

First, install the any of the database which MDM uses..

Install all the components in any order..

Client can be installed first and then the server..

The installation is as simple as any WIN32 application..

Just say next next and finish...

Hope that helps.

Tanveer.

Hi Kristene,

SQL 2000 server installation wont take much time; once you install the SQL server, go to Start>All Programs> Microsoft SQL server --> Enterprise Manager, you can see Console root, SQL server group under that you can see your local machine active and running... thats all about SQL server installation...

After this follow these steps..

1. Execute the MDM server file, and make sure its running if not go to service and make it run.

2. Open MDM console and mount the server, what you installed...

3. The load the reposioty, when you do it for first time try to unarchive it...

hope this might help...

please feel free to revert to me for further clarifications...

thanks

Alexander
