Dear community,
One of my clients asks me if it would be possible to create one BOM with different alternatives (1, 2, 3...), each alternative representing the usual BOM that a customer purchases - they want that at the moment of the contract creation, given the customer and the BOM/Material, the system determines automatically the correct alternative.
CS01 - BOM creation
VA31 - Scheduling Agreement - at entering the material the system should check the "sold-to-party" and BOM material and choose automatically the "Alternative BOM"
Is there something SAP standard I could use to achieve that? How would you resolve this question?
Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.
I am not aware of any option to suggest an alternative Bom from sales order to production, and certainly not based on customer number..
Why is it not a different material number, or done with a configurable material?

- "Why not a different material number"?
I agree with you - different material numbers - different BOMs and the use of VB11 (material determination) might be enough. I guess that they prefer not to maintain multiple master data...
- " or done with a configurable material"
I've never worked with configurable materials - I'll have a look at it.
Thanks Jürgen!
Ideally, I would use material determination to substitute BUT it looks like I cannot add the field "alternative BOM" into the condition tables...

What is your question exactly? There is not even a question mark anywhere. I'm confused...
If you google "alternative BOM site:sap.com" the very first item is an SCN post from 2009 explaining how alternative BOM works in general. There are 5k+ other results if you need more information.
