Free goods in purchase order

hi guys:

I got a problem. vendors will give me few goods for free when I purchase a material at a level of quantity.now I can creat a purchase order to purchase A with few quantity of A free, and the question is how can I purchase A with B free?

Hi Keen Lau,

Free Goods can be handled in two ways;

(a) Manually through PO using transaction code ME21/ME21N

(b) Automatically through using transaction code MBN1

Based on this condition, system automatically pick-up Free Good material in PO

thx first ,I had used the method as yours MBN1, but that could only used in same material, like purchase A get free goods A .I wanna purchase A get free goods B ,there are 2 diffferent materials , what can I do?

Hi Keen Lau,

You can use this condition in two ways;

(a) Inclusive or Exlusive of parent material.

Hi Keen,

In MBN1 if u select the exclusive view u will geta field wherein u can enter the name of the other material which u are going to receive free.

to get the exclusive just click on the the button that says exclusive and make sure u are in the exclusive view .

the field name is AddMatFrGd.

And i need a help form u , if we maintain the above conditions where can we see the things happening like entering the free goods ? is it during Goods Receipt the system automatically fetches the free goods as well as a next line item if different and if the same material is used as free goods then will the system just add the free goods qty aslo?

please clarify if u get things ok

Dear Raja,

If you maintain this condition, then system automatically picks up this data in Purchase Order.

These are called as Planned Free Goods with a validity period.

and can u tell how the system updates if the free good s is sam as the ordered one?

like after creating PO does the system will show the free good as second line item or does any tab opens and shows the details?

how the value gets updated in material master? and because of the free goods does the price gets lowered as the qty is more for the same price?

hi Keen ,

when you create a purchase order , there is a free goods indicator in line item details.

when you are buying A and getting B free , against line item B , just check the free goods indicator, B will then be marked as free goods.

when you are buying A and getting A free , add A as a line item again with the free quantity in item quantity and check the free goods indicator. The second line will be taken as free goods.
