How to connect SAP BOBJ to Microsoft SQL server 2012

I am using BOBJ 4.1 SP5 installed on redhat linux. I need to connect to a MS Sql server 2012 via odbc. I tried editing the odbc.ini file with the details of the MS Sql server but it doesnt show up in data sources in Information design tool when trying to create a new connection. Do I need to download a new driver. Am I missing something?

I found very strange that BI does not support the Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server on Linux. they only support the DatADirect ODBC drivers! Check this KBA 2049149.
